Rest in Peace: 11/09/77 – 04/01/08

What can I say bro? You inspired me, you guided me, and you got me started on the passion in my life. The journey started way back in 2004, heck probably 2003. I was probably just a sophomore in high school when you really got me started focusing on security.

It all started with "by the way, your dad’s email is unencrypted" – and me being foolish enough to challenge you. Needless to say, I never doubted your trust or honesty one bit. You taught me the basics of Linux and UNIX, you taught me my first exploit (and how I still think of those days whenever I hear "ptrace"). You were the inspiration behind my entire career, goals, and even dare I say – life. I’m where I am today because of you, Rob.

You lived up to your name every hour of every day. You actually did change lives, and if not multiple – at least mine. The dreams (and ideas) that you had for H3C will always live on in your honor. RIP man …

Full article here

So here’s the question about “Project 12″ – they want to create a national monitoring platform or system for the government. This all was started when a group of hackers from China were able to intercept emails from government servers.

Here’s my question to the US Govt: Why are you not encrypting your emails with custom cyphers? Encrypting with a bit system cypher that everyone and their mother has will not protect your data. You need a better system with private keys and auto-morphing skeletons.

Example: an encryption I know of *cough* mine *cough* will auto shift encryption files every day or two for each person (future release). This way no matter how much data you send, it will always be changing and modifying so even if intercepted it won’t be easily cracked.

Here’s a tip for you US Govt. Cut the hops in between your government computers and connections. Put them on a private backbone (or not, just ones that you can assure you control YOURSELF) – and transmit emails only over your pipes – while they’re encrypted with polymorphic cyphers. Running an email across 15 hops with your standard government encryption will not do you any better. 15 hops that have 12+ public increases the chances of your email getting intercepted. After that, you’re using standard encryption where the algorithms are all public. Wrong. You’re going to lose your data.

Use private lines and/or systems, and transmit using custom cyphers. Don’t be dumb – this is your CITIZEN’S data we’re talking about here. Be smart.

PS – Once again, as I always do, if you have a question contact me. I’m not saying I’m a professional, but I could help as much as possible. Don’t hesitate.

There is no such thing as being completely secure. By secure I’m referencing to computer websites, computers in general, e-mail, etc. As it’s often said in the security field: “if someone wants to get into your information, they will get into it – if they want it bad enough”. There are always holes in everything. Any semi-complex program and above has a vulnerability in it that can be exploited. This is why there is such thing as open source (obviously besides the free connotation with it); because open source lets people find the security problems and report them to you so that your program will be more secure.

I’ve decided to start working on my encryption again, and further it along in features. Right now it’s a polymorphic encoder with over 600,000 cyphers built in. I want to make that at least 2 million soon, and if I’m able to do this it will be almost 4x the security – as if 600,000 cyphers isn’t enough. Heck, maybe I’ll make it 10 million. On top of this I also want to change the cyphers over to an encoded key file that holds the cyphers, so that programs can be automatically updated and have the cyphers changed on the fly. This could make it up to 100 million cyphers … oh the power! Of course on top of this I also want to add a GUI to make it a little user friendly.

US Government – You interested? My contact info is public if you want more information, after all – I am looking for a job.
